Network Design & Consultancy
Modern organisations depend on secure, reliable wired and wireless connectivity to keep people, systems and operational technology connected. Datametrics designs and delivers high-performance networks for offices, warehouses, campuses, healthcare facilities, data centres, secure sites and high-density environments. We cover everything from the first survey through to testing, validation and handover.
We operate across the UK and globally, delivering consistent standards regardless of location.

/ Network Design & Consultancy
Reliable Wi-Fi takes more than placing access points around a building. We look at construction materials, device numbers, applications, interference sources and how the network will actually be used. Then we carry out predictive, active and passive surveys, spectrum analysis and post-installation validation. The findings decide how many access points are needed, where they go, which channels and power levels they use, and what cabling supports them.
Integrated and Secure
Wired and wireless infrastructure should run as one secure, manageable environment. We design networks that integrate with new or existing switching, firewalls, authentication services, security policies and monitoring platforms. Corporate, operational and guest networks are kept separate, which protects sensitive systems while still giving users, visitors and connected devices the access they need. Designs can also accommodate CCTV, access control, audio visual, building management and IoT devices.

Our designs support customer security and governance requirements, including ISO/IEC 27001-aligned policies and the NIS Regulations 2018.

Measured, Not Guessed
Datametrics has invested in the Ekahau Sidekick 2, professional survey and spectrum-analysis equipment built for accurate, consistent and repeatable wireless measurement. It has four enterprise-grade tri-band Wi-Fi radios, nine custom wideband antennas and a spectrum analyser that captures up to 50 sweeps per second. That lets our engineers analyse the 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands in detail. Used with Ekahau’s survey and design software, it goes far beyond a basic signal test, so every recommendation is backed by measured data.
What we measure:
Primary and secondary coverage
Signal strength and signal-to-noise ratio
Channel allocation, overlap and utilisation
Wi-Fi and non-Wi-Fi interference
Access-point coverage and configuration
Network capacity and anticipated device density
Roaming performance and coverage transitions
Suitability for voice, video, IoT and business-critical applications
/ Predictive Design
Designed Before It’s Installed
For new installations and major upgrades, we build predictive wireless models from building plans, construction materials, ceiling heights, expected device numbers and application requirements. Signal propagation, capacity and access-point placement are all assessed before work begins. That reduces the risk of coverage gaps, unnecessary access points and costly changes after deployment.
Predictive designs can include:
Recommended access-point locations
Anticipated coverage and signal levels
Capacity and device-density calculations
Channel and power recommendations
Primary and secondary coverage requirements
Cabling and containment requirements
Proposed equipment schedules
Wireless coverage heatmaps

/ Surveys & Validation

Proven On Site
Onsite surveys measure the real wireless environment, including the effect of walls, doors, machinery, neighbouring networks and other interference. We survey before installation, during troubleshooting or once a new network is complete. Post-installation validation confirms that the system meets the agreed coverage, capacity and application requirements.
You receive clear reports and heatmaps covering coverage, signal quality, interference and capacity. Where improvements are needed, we give practical recommendations on access-point positioning, channel configuration, power levels and supporting infrastructure.

/ Standards

British Standards and Industry Requirements
Network performance depends on both the wireless design and the physical infrastructure behind it. Where structured cabling and associated infrastructure form part of the solution, Datametrics works to the applicable requirements of:
BS EN 50173 series for information technology generic cabling systems
BS EN 50174 series for cabling specification, quality assurance, installation planning and practice
BS 7671, as amended, for associated low-voltage electrical work
Applicable IEEE 802.11 wireless networking standards
Current Ofcom requirements for wireless spectrum use in the UK
The standards that apply are selected according to building type, operating environment and project scope.
